At JHASHEART , Social and Emotional Learning [SEL] is the measured process through which a human being develops and effectively applies the chosen attitude, behavior, knowledge, and skills necessary to (1) think+positive, (2) understand and regulate emotions, (3) declare and achieve goals, (4) empathize and respect others, (5) seek and engage in positive relationships, and (6) consistently make constructive and responsible. SEL consists of five competencies – Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making.
